A kitchen is the hardest room in a house to remodel well, because almost nothing in it stands on its own. Move the sink and you have moved the plumbing. Change the island and you have changed the electrical, the lighting, and the flooring underneath it.
The work that decides whether a kitchen lands is the part nobody sees: settling the layout and the selections before a single cabinet is ordered. Cabinetry carries the longest lead time of anything in the room, so it gets designed and ordered early — that is what keeps it from becoming the thing everyone waits on.
From there it is a matter of sequence. Demolition, rough-in for plumbing and electrical, cabinetry, countertops templated to what is actually installed rather than to a drawing, then tile, flooring and trim. One contractor holding the schedule, so the trades are booked against each other instead of called as they come up.
