Hall bathroom remodel

Finished hall bathroom — vanity and tiled surround

A bath used by children takes a level of abuse a primary suite never sees, and the specification should reflect that. Surfaces that clean up rather than stain, a vanity top that survives being stood on, hardware that takes being hung off, and grout that does not turn grey within a year.

None of that has to mean choosing something plain. It means choosing materials for how they wear as well as how they photograph — which is a question worth asking out loud before the selections are made, not after.

Ventilation matters more here than anywhere else in the house. A hall bath used several times a day, with a fan that never quite cleared the room, is where paint peels and trim swells. Getting the exhaust right is unglamorous and it is the difference between a finish lasting two years and ten.
